my approach to therapy
Therapy sessions with me tend to be collaborative, conversational, and human. My goal is to help people feel better long-term (obviously!)
On a broad level, this often involves supporting people in:
Understanding patterns in their lives and relationships
Accepting things they cannot change so that they can start living more fully and meaningfully
Developing self-compassion
Creating changes in their lives that synergize with who they are naturally, rather than forcing themselves to fit into a lifestyle that isn’t suited to them
For me to truly understand someone, I feel that it’s important to understand their culture, family, values, and core identities. So while providing therapy and developing strategies with clients, I often try to contextualize their experiences through these aspects of their personhood.
